Achilles repair is a tendon-remodeling marathon. Your nutrition needs to keep pace.
Whether you've ruptured your Achilles, undergone lateral ligament reconstruction, or had ankle stabilization surgery, your recovery depends on slow, collagen-driven tendon and ligament remodeling. The OVIAL Surgical Nutrition Kit was formulated to support tissue repair, manage inflammation across a long return-to-sport arc, and preserve the calf integrity that drives long-term outcomes.

Why nutrition matters specifically for ankle & Achilles surgery.
The Achilles tendon remodels for 12+ months.
Unlike muscle, tendon has limited vascularity and slow remodeling kinetics. Re-rupture risk is highest in the first 6 months. Clinical-dose collagen peptides — taken before activity — directly support the healing collagen matrix during the long tendon-remodeling window.
Boot-driven calf atrophy is severe.
6–12 weeks in a CAM boot or cast means measurable gastrocnemius and soleus atrophy. EAA + leucine and creatine — even before active PT begins — preserve calf muscle quality so your tendon has a strong functional unit to recover into.
Inflammation control without re-rupture risk.
Chronic NSAID use during tendon healing has been shown to compromise tendon-to-bone integration in animal and human data. POST Capsules use curcumin and Vit D3/K2 to modulate inflammation through different pathways — without blunting the tendon healing cascade.
Three phases. One kit.
Anabolic Priming
Pre-load EAAs, creatine, and micronutrients to enter surgery anabolically primed. Enters the long boot-immobilization phase with maximum calf muscle reserve.

Whey isolate, EAA + leucine, creatine, and TendoForte® collagen. Designed for boot-time use — preserves calf muscle and supports tendon collagen synthesis even before weight-bearing begins.
→ OVIAL POST · Powder · 28 servingsInflammation Control
Curcumin, Vit D3 + K2, magnesium glycinate. Manages inflammation across the long return-to-running arc without compromising tendon-to-bone healing biology.

Common ankle & Achilles questions.
I'm in a CAM boot and non-weight-bearing — will the Kit still help?
Yes — particularly POST Powder. EAA + leucine and creatine work at the cellular level to preserve muscle protein synthesis even during full immobilization. Patients who consume adequate EAAs during boot-time enter weight-bearing PT with measurably more calf muscle reserve, which is the strongest predictor of long-term function.
Does the protocol differ between Achilles repair and lateral ligament reconstruction?
The biology overlaps significantly — both involve collagen-driven soft-tissue remodeling and benefit from the same anabolic priming and inflammation-modulation framework. Achilles repair generally requires a longer rehab arc (12+ months for full remodeling) and may benefit from extended Capsule dosing. Discuss specifics with your surgeon.
I'm worried about re-rupture — is there evidence nutrition reduces risk?
While no nutrition product can guarantee re-rupture prevention, the underlying biology is well-established: collagen synthesis is rate-limited by amino acid availability, and chronic NSAID use is associated with impaired tendon healing in published literature. The Kit addresses both factors. Your surgeon's PT progression and weight-bearing protocol remain the primary drivers of re-rupture risk.
Can I skip Phase 1 and just start at Day 0?
If your surgery is in less than 14 days, start PRE immediately and continue until the day before surgery. If you're already past your pre-op window and reading this post-op, jump straight to POST Powder. Don't skip Phase 3 (Capsules) — that's the longest and most consequential window for ankle/Achilles outcomes.
For educational use only. Tendon healing timelines reflect typical published ranges and vary by repair type, tissue quality, and individual factors. NSAID-tendon healing data draws from Soreide et al. and related orthopedic sports medicine literature. Always consult your surgeon before changing your perioperative regimen.
